Experimental thermal and electrical performances of a PVT-air collector coupled to a humidification-dehumidification (HDH) cycle

Despite their low electrical efficiencies, PVs are widely used to generate electricity from abundant solar energy. In order maximize the utilization of incident energy, PVT collectors have been simultaneously and thermal Furthermore, combining PVTs with humidification-dehumidification (HDH) cycles can provide potable water in remote, arid rural areas that not connected grid. this paper, a PVT-air collector was coupled an air-heated closed HDH cycle. Air heated within humidified by saline spray inside humidifier. Fresh produced cooling humid air dehumidifier is cooled water. The performances PVT-HDH system were experimentally studied compared performance PV module similar characteristics. results demonstrated significant decrease temperature system, which resulted 20% increase output power at midday identical module. addition, about 3.8 liters distillate for surface area 1.48 m × 0.68 m, contributed 38% overall efficiency system.
